Bahay Mapagmahal is a home for children in Quezon City, Philippines that provides daily care, stability, and emotional support for youth with varying physical disabilities.
Established in 1973, the home was created to ensure that children receiving medical care—many of whom live far from their families—have a safe, nurturing place to heal, grow, and feel deeply cared for. Sustained through community generosity and institutional partnerships, the home offers more than shelter—it provides dignity, belonging, and a sense of family during critical periods of recovery and development.
Creativity and expression are central to life at Bahay Mapagmahal. Through Rondalla on Wheels, the home’s musical ensemble, children engage in music as therapy, a confidence-building practice, and joyful connection.

For our crew on the ground, as is the case with many outsiders visiting Manila, it can be downright shocking to see how little support and how few services exist for young people with disabilities growing up in this massive city. We saw up close the resilience and grit it takes for these kids simply to travel by wheelchair to school—often on busy roads with no sidewalks.
So, witnessing firsthand such an inspiring leader as Adeline and the young kids she guides through these many daily challenges—it was beyond a privilege to be invited into their world and help share their stories.
