Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation has one mission: to end human trafficking, so every child can grow up safe, loved, free from slavery, trafficking, and exploitation.
Based in Hanoi, Vietnam, their work protects children and young people facing extreme forms of vulnerability. A primary focus for Blue Dragon is children in crisis who—often very young survivors of slavery and trafficking, homelessness, and severe poverty—require shelter and immediate safe pathways out of danger.
Rescue is only the first step. At its headquarters in downtown Hanoi, Blue Dragon offers a sanctuary for youth in crisis—providing meals, showers, and safety around the clock. The team offers long-term support, walking alongside each child as they heal from trauma, regain stability, and rebuild their lives with dignity. Everything learned on the front line informs Blue Dragon’s advocacy efforts.
By transforming lived experience into action, they are working to strengthen laws and policies in Vietnam that will further safeguard and protect the most vulnerable, ensuring that systemic change accompanies individual recovery.

One night, we traveled with Vi on the back of his moped, shooting with him as he made his nightly rounds throughout Hanoi, capturing his connection and devotion to the kids barely surviving on the streets and under bridges.

The reason why I committed to this work, helping these kids, is because I used to be one of them. When I was 15 years old, I was living in Hanoi, shining shoes on the streets so I could send back the money to my parents.
I slept in the slum area with many other homeless people. I experienced the hardship, I experienced the trauma, and I was lonely in this city, in Hanoi.
And by really good luck, by chance, I met Blue Dragon.
